Horror Conventions
Horror films try to:
Frighten and panic
Cause dread and alarm
Invoke our hidden fears
Captivate and entertain us in a cathartic experience
Conclude in terrifying shocking final.
Different audience types:
Nightmares
Vulnerability
Alienation
Revulsions
Terry of the unknown
Fear of death
Loss of identity
Fear of sexuality.
Typical horror story line:
Something that relates to the supernatural
A fierce animal
Murderers – something that wears scary out fits and masks.
The storyboards are good Jay. They are clear but if you are including a twist try not to show it in the trailer. I think if you used low key lighting it would cast doubt upon the characters which could hint to your target audience that there is a twist involved. Hope this helps :)
